Vista Crcdisk.sys Safe Mode

Safe Mode Mac

I have been reading through that thread and there are several mentions of deleting sptd.sys, but I don't know if that relates to me. I was able to find crcdrive.sys by going to a command prompt. In going into the System Restore, it does identify the partitions with names.

When going into restore C: it says that there is corruption on C:, but when I select the option to correct disk errors, it does not do anything - there is no HD activity.it halts immediately before even trying to go to the HD. When I go into a command prompt, I CAN navigate the C: drive in DOS, change directories, run DIRs etc. So the system is able to find files on the HD. Also there is an option that says 'if you cannot see your OS, click Load Drivers to load the drivers for your Hard Drive' I CAN sse my OS, but if I do go into that Load Drivers option, it opens a windows-like disk navigation dialog box and I can navigate all over my C: D: and E: drives with no problems.so the file structure is there and accessible.

This would make me think that there is some software issue in accessing the drive during the bootup. The HD says it's made by Seagate, but I don't know what kind of diagnostic utility to get for it or how to run that (i've been looking at seagate.com).

I found this: quote: This is on Vista Ultimate 32: I had this same problem, but it turned out to be my RAID volumes. I tried at first to reboot in safe mode, but it froze after loading crdisk.sys. I took these steps (not recommended unless you know what you're doing) and am happily watching the volumes rebuild: 1. Turned off machine (duh) 2. Unplugged one of my hard drives.

(If this didn't work with one, I would've reversed the attempt on the other drive) 3. Rebooted into safe mode (this told me that the one I unplugged must have been degraded) 4. Installed Intel Matrix Storage Manager (Guide and download link can be found at ») 5. Replugged the bad drive and rebooted. On reboot, the RAID came up as degraded, but upon Vista boot the storage manager ap kicked in and began the rebuild process. My rig and I breath a sigh of relief. Now I don't have a 2nd HD, but I am able to get into a 'Safe mode' of sorts from the DVD per your earlier suggestion.

I can only get into 'load drivers' which allows me a full Windows-like GUI navigation of the HD. I can also get to a command prompt.

(The background of the screen says 'SAFE MODE' in the corners, but it is not full safe mode with Windows Start menu, etc.) But from here, I can access 'My Computer' and see the file structure, my CD/DVD, and my USB drive. From the Command Prompt, I can navigate to and execute files.

However, Windows installer is not present and I am also unable to fully execute any SFC /SCANNOW, etc. I am going to try to get the Intel thing suggested above and install it from my USB. So I think I will not be able to install the Intel Manager per the quote above. Rather I think perhaps I need to get the INF file for the Seagate Momentus 7200.1 100 GB HDD. Yet I can't find this INF. I think I need the.INF because that is what the 'LOAD DRIVERS' function in this partial Safe Mode when booting from the DVD disk allows me to do.

Kapp, I have not faced this problem in my experience with Windows, nor ever heard of it. However, I took the liberty to help you out a bit by looking around on some forums. According to the sources that I have looked at, they are saying it is a corrupted driver; not the file system. So, in that case, your Windows will not be able to pass by crcdisk.sys without deleting the driver from the system completely. It looks like this file is associated with Linksys wireless NICs. Whether or not this is your problem specifically, you will have to judge based on the knowledge of what you have, and where.
